We have both new and factory remanufactured sterndrives. New is always best but the factory remanufactured drives are well known for quality and dependability. Before ordering a new or remanufactured sterndrive you need to know exactly what drive you need. Most drives will have a serial number stamped into the side or rear decal. Having the serial number usually allows the customer to look up exactly what drive he needs; however, it is possible that someone has changed a gear set and altered the original ratio. Please note: Prices are subject to change. Core fees not included. Prices are for in-stock units only. Special order drives may be more. Sterndrives are our specialty. Apply some tough thrust with the Mercruiser Bravo Two Drive. A larger diameter prop provides very strong, yet controllable forward and reverse steering, stopping and manueverability. Bravo Two drives are perfect for barges, houseboats and larger non-planning hulls although some boat manufacturers rig smaller sport-type hulls with the Bravo Two with great success. The propshaft of the Bravo Two is humongous. It requires a special prop. The Bravo Two will bolt up fine to a Bravo One or Bravo Three Gimbal.
NOTE: Prices are subject to change. Mercruiser has increased prices and the price you see here might not be accurate. Bravo Drives cannot be shipped via UPS. We suggest ground trucking or DHL. Most Bravo Two drives are Special Order Only. Special Order can add one to three weeks average to shipping times. Note: The diesel Bravo Sterndrives are a little more because of the construction of the upper gear set. All new Bravos will have the remote oil reservoir fitting. High Performance Bravo's have low water pick-ups. That is the only difference. We do not recommend High Performance Bravo Ones for use in shallow, muddy or sandy running conditions. New Bravo Ones include rear tilt pin kits. Remanufactured units are very limited and availability will change. Please note. We get a lot of calls asking if the Bravo can replace the Alpha Drive. YES and NO. The Bravo will NOT fit directly onto an Alpha One gimbal housing assembly. If you want to convert to a Bravo, you will need to replace the entire gimbal housing assembly. You may also need to get a different prop, exhaust pipe, belt driven water pump kit and a few other odds and ends. Switching to a Bravo can be an expensive conversion and it really doesn't make sense unless you have a big block engine or over 350 horse power. The Bravo One will weigh more than the Alpha One and the housing is a little larger which will apply more drag in the water. Most small block customers should simply save some money and stick with the Alpha One. For high horsepower applications, consider the new Bravo XZ and XR Sterndrives. They are really the only "true" high horsepower Bravo design. Sterndrives.com now has the long awaited for High Performance Propshaft Kits. Kits include a new heavy duty special lower gear set, an aluminum anodized billett propshaft carrier, load ring, locking tab washer, carrier o-ring, the new super thick heavy duty propshaft and the steel solid hub propeller adapter to fit the Flo-Torque II propellers. The entire kit is $1,190.00 We will also install this kit into your new drive for $500.00 labor. Installation will void any and all factory warranties. A note about ROTATION Do not confuse engine rotation with sterndrive or propeller rotation ALL sterndrive Mercruiser Engines are left hand (standard, counterclockwise) rotation. Most single engine boats use a right-hand rotation drive unit meaning that the propeller rotation is right-hand (standard, clockwise) rotation. Counter rotating drives are left-hand (counter, counterclockwise) propeller rotation. Counter rotating drives have only been around in numbers for the last few years. The advantage of having two drives rotating in opposite directions are increased speed, improved slow and high speed handling, better course tracking, more level ride, improved fuel economy and easier docking. NOT ALL DRIVES CAN COUNTER ROTATE! The drive must be specifically designed to be a counter rotation drive. Attempting to run a standard rotation drive in a counter rotation direction will positively destroy the drive in just a few minutes. In most applications the RH (standard) drive is mounted on the starboard side. The LH (counter rotation) drive is mounted on the port side. The LH drive must have a LH propeller. The LH shift cable must be reversed at the binnacle to pull instead of push for forward gear. Most controls allow for either direction by simply repositioning the cable mounting location and attachment. Always use extreme care when reinstalling the drives that they are properly installed on the correct side or extreme expensive damage will occur. Bravo Drives are bi-directional. Rotation direction is simply determined by the shift cable direction and no damage will take place by reversing the running direction or by installing the Bravo drives on different sides. Again, the RH propeller is usually installed on the starboard side and the LH propeller is usually installed on the port side. Use caution when attempting to operate the boat for the first time after drive, shift cable, or propeller work has been done. Tie the vessel firmly to a strong dock and test the shift for proper direction. Improperly installed props, drives or cables can make the boat go in reverse instead of forward causing severe damage, injury or death. Just check it. Sterndrives.com also has Alpha One, Alpha Generation II, Bravo 1 and Bravo 3 Sterndrives too. |
